Sudbury detectives are searching for a suspect accused of bear spraying and stabbing a person downtown on the weekend.
Officers were dispatched to a weapons complaint on Elm Street at Elgin Street just before 1 a.m. Sunday.
They found the victim, who has sustained "serious, but non-life-threatening injuries," police spokesperson Sarah Kaelas told CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca in an email Monday morning.
The victim was taken to hospital by paramedics and remains in stable condition.
"Detectives from our criminal investigations division have positively identified the suspect in this matter and continue their efforts to locate him to ensure he is held responsible for the attack," Kaelas said.
"There is no believed threat to public safety as this was an isolated incident. The investigation remains ongoing."
