Argument led to alleged threatening with a shotgun: Winnipeg police

A shotgun was seized after a woman was allegedly threatened.

Around 2 a.m. on Saturday, officers were called to an apartment building in the 1500 block of Warde Avenue after a woman was allegedly threatened with a gun.

When they arrived, police found the victim, a 24-year-old woman, in the lobby of the building. Police said she came to the apartment building to meet with a friend and an argument was started. In a media release, police said a man who was in the unit “pulled out a shotgun and threatened the victim.”

About 2:30 a.m., police arrested a 28-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman from the unit.

A little before 2 p.m., officers searched the unit based on a warrant and seized an unloaded Winchester 12-gauge shotgun.

The 28-year-old man now faces multiple charges, including firearms-related charges, threatening and four counts of failing to comply with release order. He was detained in custody.

The 23-year-old woman from the unit was released without charge.

None of the charges have been tested in court.
