Brockville, Ont. mayor not seeking re-election this fall

Matt Wren will not be seeking re-election as mayor of Brockville, Ont. this fall.

The mayor announced on Tuesday he will be stepping down from municipal politics after October’s municipal election.

“It has been the honour of my life to serve this community. I am returning my full attention to a career I have spent a lifetime building, and to an exciting new chapter within it.” Wren said in a statement to CTV News Ottawa.

“There is important work still to do, and I will be fully committed to this city until my last day in office. A more fulsome reflection will come in due course. For now — thank you, Brockville.”

Wren served four years as a councillor before being elected mayor of Brockville in 2022.

The municipal election is Monday, Oct. 26.
