‘Learn the laws, live within them’: Teen G1 driver charged after driving double the speed limit

A novice driver is facing charges after allegedly driving double the speed limit in Oxford County without having a qualified driver in the vehicle with them.

According to a social media post from OPP West Region, a 17-year-old driver from Ingersoll was stopped on Road 60 in Zorra Township on April 14 at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Police say the teen driver was clocked in at 102 km/h while driving in a posted 50 km/h zone.

As a result, the driver was charged with stunt driving and will make a later court appearance.

In addition, the G1 driver was also charged as driving without the having the necessary qualified driver in the vehicle with them.

The driver will have their licence suspended for 30 days and the vehicle will be impounded for 14 days.

“Driving is not a right, it’s a privilege,” OPP said. “Learn the laws, live within them.”
