Woman accused of uttering threats with knife in Sault Ste. Marie

A 30-year-old woman faces multiple charges following a disturbance in Sault Ste. Marie over the weekend.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said officers responded to a 911 report of a disturbance in the 200 block of Wellington Street West shortly after 10:30 a.m. on April 11.

“An investigation revealed the accused had brandished a knife while verbally threatening a victim,” said police in a news release.

Police said no physical injuries were sustained in the incident.

“The victim and accused are familiar with one another,” added authorities.

Police said officers located and arrested the woman the same day. Upon searching the individual, police say officers located and seized a knife.

The woman is charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on June 29.
