Calgary man charged with attempted murder in CrossIron Mills stabbing

A Calgary man has been charged in connection with a stabbing outside CrossIron Mills mall on Monday evening.

Airdrie RCMP say the accused and the victim met at the mall’s parking lot for the sale of cell phones.

It’s alleged the accused stabbed the victim in the chest.

The victim was rushed to hospital in Calgary with serious injuries.

Mounties say he remains in hospital in stable condition.

The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of the victim’s money, RCMP said.

Officers issued a Canada-wide warrant for the man’s arrest.

He was taken into custody by police in Surrey, B.C., on Tuesday.

The accused, 46-year-old Tariq Hussain, has since been transported back to Airdrie.

He is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and robbery.

Hussain remains in police custody.

He is scheduled to appear in court again on April 20.
