Officers with the Ontario Provincial Police’s North Bay detachment are investigating a set of break-and-enter and theft incidents at the Powassan landfill this month.
The first incident occurred on Dec. 1.

“Two individuals unlawfully entered the Powassan landfill while it was closed. The individuals were captured on surveillance footage stealing various items,” said police in a news release.
Items taken included donation bin contents and discarded electronics.

The second occurrence was last week on Dec. 19. incident occurred on Dec. 1. This time individuals cut the chain on the landfill’s front gate and entered the property in a vehicle.

“Once inside, individuals stole discarded electronics,” said police.
Surveillance footage recorded images of the vehicle, which police said they believe to be an older style Chevrolet extended cab truck with hard flip-up tonneau cover. The truck was equipped with a back rack, rear-facing flood lights and had a partially burned-out left taillight.

“Investigators believe these two incidents may be connected,” said police.
The OPP has released images of the persons of interest and the vehicle of interest (shown above) to assist in identifying those responsible.
