Man arrested after apartment fire in Verdun

A man is in the hospital and possibly facing charges after allegedly starting a fire in his Verdun apartment.

The Montreal fire department said the fire began around 1:15 p.m. in a two-storey residential building on Moffat Street near Verdun Street.

A second alarm was sounded just after 3:30 p.m.

The fire was contained to the man’s apartment, and the building was evacuated.

No one was injured, but he was taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.
