Maple Leafs sign New Glasgow, N.S., forward Landon Sim

Another Nova Scotia hockey player has been signed to the NHL.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Landon Sim of New Glasgow to a two-year entry-level contract.

The 21-year-old had three goals and 31 penalty minutes with the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies this season.

Sim originally signed a one-year AHL contract with the Marlies last May.

He had two goals and 44 penalty minutes in 18 games with the East Coast Hockey League’s Cincinnati Cyclones.

Sim also helped the London Knights win the 2025 Memorial Cup and Ontario Hockey League championships in 2024 and 2025.

His contract with the Leafs will begin in the 2026-27 season.

The center is the son of former Jon Sim, who played on a number of NHL teams, including the Dallas Stars, Los Angeles Kings and New York Islanders, during his career.

Jon Sim was inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame in 2022.

“Great to see another Nova Scotian take the next step at the highest level,” Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston wrote on social media.

“Wishing you nothing but success, Landon.”

Rookie Colten Ellis of River Denys, N.S., made his debut last fall with the Buffalo Sabres.

Last week the goaltender stopped 37 shots for his first NHL career shutout.
