Winnipeg police have launched a homicide investigation after the body of a 30-year-old man was found behind a West End home.
Police said they were called Friday just before 10 a.m. to the 700 block of Wellington Avenue for a report of suspicious circumstances.
Officers found a man at the rear of the home and say it was apparent he was dead.
Police were on scene through much of the day, and a row of garbage and recycling bins were seen partially covered with a black tarp with police tape surrounding the scene.
Officers identified the victim as Bronson Emery Dale Kequahtooway. They say he was living in Winnipeg, but was originally from Zagime Anishinabek First Nation in Saskatchewan.
His family has been notified.
