Three teenagers have been charged after a man was carjacked at a St. Vital gas station.

Winnipeg police say they were called Monday at around 3:20 p.m. to the gas station in the 300 block of St. Anne’s Road for a report of a vehicle that had been stolen by force.

Officers spoke with a 62-year-old man who was the owner of the vehicle. He said three suspects came up to his 2017 Toyota Sequoia as he was getting out, jumped inside and struck him with the vehicle door as he tried to stop them.

According to police, the suspects drove off in the victim’s vehicle before they arrived.

Just after 11 that night, patrolling officers spotted the stolen vehicle in the Old St. Vital Neighbourhood.

They pulled it over for a traffic stop at Coniston Street and St. Mary’s Road.

The people inside were arrested without incident.

Police say a folding knife was seized from one of the suspects.

Two 17-year-old males and a 14-year-old male are facing several charges, including robbery and possession-related offences.

One of the 17-year-olds was detained in custody awaiting a disposition. The other was released by way of undertaking, while the 14-year-old was released on an appearance notice.

None of the charges have been tested in court.
