Manitoba weather: Sun is shining, but temperatures still cooler than normal

Colleen Bready has your current conditions and updated weather forecast for April 7, 2025.

The first full week of April gets off to an uneventful start, but that’s a good thing.

The sun is shining over much of Manitoba and northwestern Ontario, and winds are light on Monday.

If there is one blemish on the afternoon forecast, it’s that forecast daytime highs are stubbornly cool for this time of year.

Winnipeg, Brandon and the rest of southern Manitoba will only see temperatures rise to around the freezing mark.

For context, the normal daytime high one week into April for both cities is closer to 8 C.

Further east, sunny northwestern Ontario will be slightly cooler with highs remaining just below freezing Monday afternoon.

Temperatures across northern Manitoba will be slightly cooler still, remaining a handful of degrees below freezing across most regions.

Churchill, however, will be especially chilly, with a high of just -15 C.

Quiet conditions will continue Monday night across Manitoba and northwestern Ontario.

Tuesday will be warmer in the south, with seasonal temperatures expected. Winnipeg is forecast to reach 7 C under a mix of sun and cloud.

Meanwhile, Environment and Climate Change Canada said a surface low over northern Alberta Monday will spread mixed precipitation into southern Manitoba Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

It will be a short-lived disturbance – temperatures will shoot into the double digits in the sunshine on Thursday in Winnipeg.

Barring any significant changes to the forecast, temperatures Saturday could rise to the upper teens, and mid-teens on Sunday. Sunshine is expected both days.
