Manitoba weather: Snow possible this week

Colleen Bready has your current conditions and updated weather forecast for March 31, 2025.

Spring break starts off in the sunshine across Manitoba and northwestern Ontario on Monday.

Despite the sunshine, temperatures are a bit cool for this time of year, with southern regions expecting daytime highs to hover around the freezing mark this afternoon.

Winnipeg is forecast to reach 0 C, while the normal daytime high for the end of March for the city is 5 C.

There is a bigger range in temperatures across the northern half of the province on Monday.

Daytime highs are much higher in the northwest than the northeast – Flin Flon and The Pas should climb to -6 C, while -22 C is about as high as temperatures should reach in Churchill.

Quiet conditions will continue Monday night across Manitoba and northwestern Ontario.

By late Tuesday afternoon, change will be brewing. No April Fool’s Day joke here - Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) said two separate disturbances will approach Manitoba.

ECCC said one will approach southern Manitoba from the Dakotas, but how the region will be affected is unclear – forecast models wildly disagree on how this system will play out.

The weather agency said one model shows five to 10 centimetres of snow for areas south of the Trans-Canada Highway, including Winnipeg.

Another model keeps the heaviest snow in the U.S., while a third will send snow to the Sprague region.

Another low pressure system is expected to bring five to 10 cm of snow to the northwest corner of the province on Wednesday.
