Manitoba weather: Unseasonably warm temperatures continue

The week is off to an unseasonably warm start on Monday.

Daytime highs will reach the low to mid-20s across Manitoba, including Winnipeg, while northwestern Ontario will heat up into the upper 20s.

The unstable, warm air mass will bring a good chance of showers or thunderstorms to southern Manitoba on Monday afternoon and evening.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says severe thunderstorms are possible in east-central parts of the province this afternoon, with large hail, strong wind gusts and heavy rain all possible.

Meanwhile, the weather agency says conditions are somewhat different in the Westman region. Slower-moving storms are possible that could produce heavy rain in some areas.

Funnel clouds also can’t be ruled out in the southwest.

ECCC says the threat of severe weather should diminish by late Monday evening, but showers and thunderstorms will continue overnight in central parts of the province.

More showers, thunderstorms and unseasonably warm temperatures are likely in the south on Tuesday.
