Ditch the umbrella and grab the sunglasses and sunscreen—sunshine has returned to southern Manitoba on Thursday.

Ridges of high pressure at both the surface and upper levels are keeping weather conditions calm across the province.

It is shaping up to be a beautiful day in the southwest, where many communities, including Brandon and Dauphin, will enjoy sunny highs around 10 C. A pocket of gusty winds will whip up around Minnedosa.

In Winnipeg and the southeast, temperatures are a touch cooler, but seasonal with highs closer to 7 C.

Most of northern Manitoba will be on the cloudier side Thursday. Flurries can’t be ruled out, although the chance is low. Expect afternoon highs to reach anywhere from 3 C to 7 C, with warmer temperatures in the northwest.

After rain, freezing rain and snow in northwestern Ontario on Wednesday, look for a cloudy and drier day on Thursday. However, there is an outside chance of flurries. Cool highs there will only reach 3 C to 5 C this afternoon.

Under the ridge, the sky will be mostly clear tonight in the south, while clouds will continue to hang over the north and into Ontario.

Lows will drop to the freezing mark or colder across all regions.

Sunny double-digit temperatures return to Winnipeg on Friday before soaring into the mid-teens on the weekend, with a sunny start and cloudy finish.
