Colleen Bready’s Forecast: Soggy start to week for southern Manitoba

It is a soggy start to the week on Monday in southern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario.

A low that moved out of Saskatchewan Monday morning is crossing southern Manitoba today, bringing as much as 10-15 mm of rain to Winnipeg and the Red River Valley, and up to 5 mm tonight.

Steinbach could get soaked with as much as 20 mm Monday afternoon.

Rain fell overnight in Brandon, but the city will be dry and cloudy Monday with strong and chilly winds from the north. Rain is expected in other southwestern areas including Minnedosa, Dauphin and Swan River.

Over the provincial border, rain falling in northwestern Ontario Monday will increase tonight as the low moves east.

Clouds will stick around across northern Manitoba Monday afternoon, while rain in The Pas will come to an end.

Daytime highs across Manitoba and northwestern Ontario Monday will only reach the single digits.

You will be able to ditch the umbrella in southern Manitoba on Tuesday, but not your coat. Temperatures won’t crack the double digits until Friday.

Sunshine will return sooner to Winnipeg, with a mix of sun and cloud expected on Wednesday. Sunshine will stick around through the weekend.
