Dig out your umbrella and keep it close—we’re in for two rain-soaked days in southern Manitoba.

Light rain moved into Brandon and the southwest overnight before spreading to Winnipeg and the southeast late Thursday morning.

Thunderstorms are also moving through northwestern Ontario amidst light rain spreading across that region, too.

The precipitation is falling in front of an approaching Colorado low, which Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says should lie over southern Manitoba by Friday morning.

In the meantime, expect rain to continue falling in the south intermittently today and tonight before tapering to showers on Friday.

The weather agency forecasts anywhere from 10 to 25 mm of rainfall across southern and central Manitoba by Friday evening.

Thunderstorms can’t be ruled out today or tonight either, which ECCC says would enhance local rainfall amounts.

It could be close, but showers should end before kickoff of the Bomber game Friday evening at Princess Auto Stadium. Still prepare to dress warmly. Temperatures will start to drop into single digits during the game.

Meanwhile, this week’s sunshine in northern Manitoba will continue for most regions on Thursday.

Winds will be strong and gusting around Tadoule Lake and Churchill but might be lighter elsewhere in the north.

Looking ahead to the weekend, sunshine will return to Winnipeg on the weekend with daytime highs near 11 C or 12 C on Saturday and Sunday.
