Colleen Bready’s forecast: A snowy April day ahead in Manitoba

Published:

Colleen Bready has your current conditions and updated weather forecast for April 2, 2025.

It’s springtime in the snow on this early April Wednesday in Manitoba and northwestern Ontario.

Southern Manitoba is currently on the northern flank of a low pressure system centred in the U.S.

Snowfall amounts across the region aren’t expected to amount to much, but the southeast corner around Sprague could see as much as 5 cm of snowfall.

Further east, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has continued a winter weather travel advisory for the Kenora and Sioux Lookout regions.

The weather agency forecasts 5 to 10 cm of snow, falling heavily at times, by Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, ECCC’s snowfall warnings continue for regions including Dryden and Fort Frances, where 15 to 25 cm of snowfall is expected within the same time frame.

Back in northern Manitoba, a second system will spread snow across the region on Wednesday. ECCC said 5 to 10 cm is possible.

The last of any snow or rain showers in Winnipeg should come to an end Wednesday evening, although there will be a risk of freezing drizzle, which could make roads slippery.

Clouds will stick around Thursday morning in the city, before some welcomed sunshine returns in the afternoon.
