Car crashes into Osborne Village business

A business in Osborne Village is cleaning up after a vehicle crashed through the front window.

An Osborne Village boutique was closed Friday after a car slammed into the front façade.

Rooster, a clothing store on Osborne Street, was struck by a vehicle early Friday morning in an apparent hit-and-run. Plywood now covers the front window of the store.

“Everything came in,” said acting manager Lynda Reagan. “We’ve got glass broken. Everything’s damaged.”

Reagan said that includes some of the store’s merchandise.

Reagan said they’ve watched video footage of the incident, and police have been notified.

“The car was being driven very erratically and quickly, and it actually hit, spun around and came in from behind to hit the window,” she said. “Somebody from across the street came and asked if the person was okay.”

Reagan said the driver left the area before police arrived, and Manitoba Hydro crews were called in to repair a downed pole.

Reagan said Rooster’s owner had to cancel a trip to a Toronto trade show to deal with insurance companies because of the crash.

The store was closed Friday for cleanup and repairs. Reagan said they hope to reopen for the weekend.
