Three people are facing charges after an argument between two groups turned violent Friday afternoon.

Winnipeg police responded to Ellice Avenue near Vaughan Street around 3:15 p.m. following multiple reports of a stabbing.

Officers found a 30-year-old man with a stab wound to his upper body. Police said officers provided emergency medical care by applying a chest seal to the wound.

Police also found a 19-year-old man who had been stabbed on Qu’Appelle Avenue. Both victims were taken to hospital in stable condition.

Investigators learned the men were part of two separate groups who got into an argument. Police said the confrontation escalated when both men pulled out edged weapons and stabbed one another.

Police said the two men didn’t know each other prior to this incident.

The 19-year-old, along with a 25-year-old man, are facing aggravated assault and possession of a weapon charges.

The 30-year-old man is facing one count of possession of a weapon.

All three accused were released on undertakings.
