Although the milder weather may have sports enthusiasts itching to hit the pitch, Windsor officials are asking locals to stay away from fields and baseball diamonds as they prepare for the opening of the season.

Even if you feel ready to get into gear, the pitches need time to mature, and staff need time to complete pre-season maintenance.

Weather permitting, city staff are hoping to have local sports fields available for Saturday, May 3 for baseball diamonds, and Saturday, May 10 for all other activities.

Use of the fields prior to this time without a permit could result in a fine.
