Windsor police chief announces retirement

Windsor Police Chief Jason Bellaire has announced his retirement.

The Windsor Police Service made the announcement Wednesday, with his retirement approaching in November.

“The Board thanks the Chief for his many years of service to our community and appreciates the lead-time provided to allow the Board to undertake a robust recruitment process to find the next leader of the Windsor Police Service,” read a news release.

Further discussions are set to take place at the next regular board meeting.

Bellaire was introduced as the city’s 19th police chief in November 2022.

He was expected to be the chief for a five-year term, ending in 2027.

The WPS Board extends its congratulations to Bellaire on his upcoming retirement.
