The City of Windsor’s Stormwater Financing Plan is officially under review.

Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens was on AM800 on Tuesday, outlining the review process.

“I’m not happy with the way that this is landing,” said Dilkens.

“I made a commitment to the residents of the city that they were going to see a decrease in their bill. That’s the way it’s supposed to be. So, the staff right now is running different models to do all the calculations.

Dilkens said he asked city administrators to bring their findings back to council.

“If it’s not the way it should be, we’re going to make it right,” he said.

“It is complex and we started the process back in 2018 and there were multiple checkpoints throughout the years with city council, in fact we delayed the implementation by a whole year to make sure that everything had been fine tuned and that this was going to be as expected.”

On the residential side, Windsorites are seeing higher than normal stormwater bills. Dilkens assured he finds this the most concerning, which is what led to the review.

“We are recalibrating this,” he said.

“We are going to come back with something for city council to consider, but we’re going to make it right. Homeowners should be paying less and businesses that have big parking lots, who contribute more, should be paying their fair share.”

The mayor said a recalibrated announcement will hopefully be made later this week.
