Gasoline prices are coming down in Canada as the consumer carbon charge drops to zilch from 17.6 cents per litre, but motorists had yet to feel the full impact of the change early this week.
That change has slowly made its way down to the gas pumps, resulting in prices dropping across the country. According to CAA, Sunday’s prices marked the lowest national average price for gasoline logged in the last year at 133.4 cents/litre. Just one short year ago, that price sat at 163.4 cents/litre.
The market tracking website Gas Buddy pinned the lowest gas price in Windsor at 122.6 cents/litre on Sunday morningn at Pioneer on Jefferson Road.
The final Canada Carbon Rebate is to be paid starting April 22 for those who file their 2024 tax returns before Wednesday. For those filing after that date, the rebate will be sent after their returns are assessed.
