OPP investigating death in Leamington

The OPP is investigating a sudden death in Leamington. It happened Wednesday afternoon on Sherk Street.

OPP are investigating a sudden death in Leamington but say there is no threat to public safety.

Officers were called for a well-being check and found a person dead in a home on Sherk Street just after 2:30 Wednesday afternoon.

There’s expected to be an increased police presence in that area as the investigate continues.

A tenant told CTV News the occupant of the apartment was an older woman in her early 80’s and described her as very nice and was sad to hear about the sudden death.

Another tenant, who did not want to be identified, said the woman was very sweet, kindhearted and generous to everyone.

“I’m feeling pain today,” he said.

“We used to exchange food with her. I don’t know what happened. It wasn’t disclosed to us, but she should rest in peace. I would really love to, if I would have got a chance, I could have helped her or something. It’s hard. She was a gem of a lady.”

Investigators are appealing to the public for any information, including video surveillance.
