Hydro wires down in Lakeshore and Belle River

Lighthouse Road needed some detours on Friday as downed powerlines affected access.

Hydro wires were downed in Lakeshore and Belle River following a storm Thursday night.

Lighthouse Road in Lakeshore saw extensive wires down after a hydro pole fell and caused a domino effect for at least a half mile.

In another incident, the OPP alerted the community about downed hydro wires in Belle River.

A tree came down, knocking down wires on Notre Dame Street, west of Ducharme Street.

Crews worked Friday to clean up powerlines and restore power.

Environment Canada reported winds whipped up to 85 kilometres an hour, as recorded at the Windsor airport.

In Chatham-Kent, wind speeds were recorded at 102 kilometres an hour.

Rainfall recorded in Windsor-Essex was about 10-12 millimetres.

There were no confirmation of any tornado formations.
