Feedback sought for the makeup of new Central WPL Branch

Work is underway to determine how Windsor’s next Central Library Branch will look and feel.

An open house Tuesday night at the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre provided residents with options for the new library’s layout.

Three layouts included options featuring administration, community archives, the history branch, or a stand-alone branch.

Jennifer Knights, the CEO of the Windsor Public Library, told CTV News that while she likes the idea of an all-encompassing library branch, she’s curious to hear feedback from residents.

“We really do want to know what the community is looking for. It’s important to us to gather that feedback because that’s how we’re going to plan for years down the road,” Knights said.

Residents are being asked to fill out a survey with their thoughts and opinions.

Before the new branch can take shape, the city will have to determine a new location. Knights said they have until early 2028 to move out of their current home at the Paul Martin building.

“Whether we’re going to move out into something that’s existing and have it retrofitted or build something from scratch is still unknown,” Knights noted.

The Windsor Public Library will continue taking survey responses until Oct. 5.
