Suspects sought in violent B.C. home invasion

Police investigating a violent home invasion in Mission, B.C., are asking the public to help identify a person of interest in the case as two suspects remain at large.

Mounties responded to the area of Whidden Avenue at 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 13, after multiple suspects reportedly entered a home and assaulted the residents with pepper spray and a crowbar.

One of the suspects sustained “substantial injuries” during the altercation before fleeing the home with several stolen long guns, the Mission RCMP said in a news release Thursday.

About half an hour later, a local hospital reported that a Dodge Caravan had dropped off a man with suspicious injuries, police said.

The suspect was arrested and remains in custody on unrelated charges.

Investigators located the Dodge Caravan and attempted to apprehend the occupants, but the van sped away and the occupants evaded capture, police said.

The van was later found abandoned, and two suspects remain at large.

“The Mission RCMP serious crime unit is actively investigating if this was a targeted incident,” police said.

Mounties are also asking residents and businesses in the area of Whidden Avenue to review security camera video for any suspicious activity between the hours of midnight and 2 a.m. on Nov. 13.
