Suspects arrested after security guard’s vehicle stolen in B.C.

Two men have been arrested after allegedly fleeing from police in stolen security company vehicle in the B.C. Interior.

Mounties say the vehicle was stolen in Salmon Arm, where a security guard contacted police just after 11 p.m. Tuesday to report his vehicle had been taken from outside a business in the 300 block of Alexander Street.

The suspects apparently drove the vehicle more than 100 kilometres to Kamloops, where it was spotted by local RCMP officers who tried to conduct a traffic stop.

“The suspects fled from one officer but ran over the spike belt of another,” Cpl. Brett Urano said in a statement Wednesday.

The vehicle kept rolling on four punctured tires before eventually coming to a stop in a parking lot near Dallas Drive and Todd Road, police said.

The suspects were arrested at the scene.

A 25-year-old man and a 38-year-old man, both from Salmon Arm, are expected to appear in court at a later date, according to police.
