A day after asking the public for help identifying the suspect vehicle in a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian in critical condition last weekend, Delta police say they have found the car and its driver.

In an update on the case Thursday afternoon, the Delta Police Department said its investigators had “located and seized the suspect vehicle and identified the driver” Wednesday evening.

The DPD did not name the driver, nor did it say if any charges had been recommended or laid in the case.

“Further investigation remains outstanding and no further information will be released at this time,” police said in their update.

“We would like to thank the public who provided information.”

On Wednesday, police announced they were looking for a black, four-door Honda Accord sedan from 2011 or 2012.

The driver of that vehicle allegedly hit a pedestrian at the intersection of 66 Avenue and Scott Road in North Delta around 7 a.m. Sunday.

The victim, a 25-year-old man, suffered “extensive injuries,” and police said he remained hospitalized in “critical but stable condition” on Thursday.
