Suspect at large after stabbings on Surrey party bus, police say

Four people were injured, two of them seriously, in a fight aboard a party bus in Surrey in the early hours of Saturday morning, police say.

The incident occurred shortly after 1 a.m. as the bus was eastbound on Highway 1 approaching the 192 Street exit, the Surrey Police Service said in a news release later Saturday morning.

Around that time, police received a 911 call from the party bus driver, who said the vehicle was stopped on the highway because “several people on the bus were fighting.”

At the same time, police received another 911 call from a passenger on the bus, who reported that “several people had been stabbed and that the suspect had fled the scene on foot,” police said.

When officers arrived, they found four people injured. Two were taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, while the other two were treated at the scene for minor injuries, according to the SPS.

Officers from the RCMP’s Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit “conducted extensive searches of the area” with the help of Langley RCMP and the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service, but they were unable to find the suspect, police said.

The SPS described the suspect as a white man in his 20s who stands approximately six feet tall and weighs 150 pounds. He has short, dirty blond hair and was wearing “a white shirt with lemons on it and possibly grey pants.”
