Stolen trailer, pickup truck recovered on Vancouver Island, but search for suspects ongoing

Police in Greater Victoria say they’ve recovered the eight-metre enclosed trailer that was stolen in Langford last week, along with the stolen suspect vehicle seen towing it away.

The search for suspects is ongoing, however, and police are still asking the public for help with their investigation.

West Shore RCMP announced the recovery of the stolen trailer and pickup truck in a news release Wednesday.

The vehicles had previously been the subject of an appeal for witnesses on Friday.

The theft occurred around 3:15 a.m. on March 4, when the trailer was parked outside “an industrial retail building” on Millstream Road, police said.

The trailer was recovered Saturday in Shawnigan Lake, just a day after West Shore RCMP first publicized its disappearance.

On Tuesday, the suspect vehicle – which police determined had been stolen out of Victoria – was recovered in Duncan.

“Police are still investigating this theft and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying suspect(s) who were involved in this crime,” Mounties said in their release Wednesday.

“Police have collected video surveillance showing the stolen vehicle towing away the stolen trailer.”

Anyone who was driving in the area of Millstream Road on March 4 between the hours of 2:45 and 4 a.m. and has dash cam video should review it in case it captured the suspects on video, police said.
