Mounties say several kilograms of suspected fentanyl and cocaine have been seized from a waterfront property in West Vancouver following a months-long investigation into drug trafficking in B.C.’s Lower Mainland.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of vehicles and cash were also seized during the raid on the residence, according to police.

The four-month investigation was launched by the Burnaby RCMP’s drugs and organized crime section, culminating in the search of the West Vancouver residence on March 22, according to a statement from the detachment on Tuesday.

Investigators allege the two suspects were part of a dial-a-dope operation, however the investigation is still ongoing.

When police searched the property, they found two children were also living there, according to the statement.

“Having children living in a residence with these types and amounts of drugs inevitably puts them in danger from these drugs as well as other elements that come from being in a criminal lifestyle,” Sgt. Randy Mortensen said in the statement.

Burnaby RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mike Kalanj said in an email Tuesday that investigators were still processing the seized items, but he estimated between eight and 10 kilograms of drugs were uncovered in the home.

“It’s basically half fentanyl and half cocaine,” Kalanj said.

Authorities also seized $40,000 in cash along with six vehicles, including a Ford pickup truck, a BMW sedan, two Ducati motorcycles and two Sea-Doos, according to investigators.

“People involved in the distribution of these drugs are contributing to the staggering number of deaths over the past decade in this province,” Mortensen added.
