Police recover $10K in stolen goods from home near Victoria

Mounties near Victoria say officers have recovered thousands of dollars worth of stolen property from a home in the community of View Royal.

The West Shore RCMP says bike patrol officers tracked down the stolen goods, which the department estimates are worth about $10,000.

Some of the high-value items seized during searches of the residence include spools of electrical conduit, a generator, a compacting tamper and various other tools and construction equipment.

The stolen goods were linked to two recent thefts in B.C.’s capital region, police said in a news release Thursday. The items have since been returned to their owners.

“These types of property crimes have a real and lasting impact on local businesses,” said Cpl. Chris Joy of the West Shore RCMP’s bike patrol unit, in a statement.

“When essential equipment is stolen, it can halt operations, increase costs, and create hardship for business owners and workers.”

Investigators say a 27-year-old man was arrested for possession of stolen property and was later released from custody pending a scheduled court appearance.

The investigation remains active. Anyone with information related to this case, or other property crimes in the West Shore area, is asked to contact the RCMP at 250-474-2264.

“West Shore RCMP is committed to identifying those responsible and ensuring stolen property is recovered,” Joy added.
