Vitaly Beckman has once again mystified Penn & Teller with his magic.
Beckman, who lives in New Westminster, recently appeared on Penn & Teller: Fool Us. The show puts up-and-coming magicians and illusionists on stage with their goal to pull off a trick so impressive that Penn & Teller are unable to duplicate.
“This is so complicated and so original, we don’t have any experience with it,” said Penn, speaking to Beckman after his performance.
“They watch you like a hawk,” Beckman told CTV News. “And also, the illusion I did was very complicated.”

Beckman’s illusion had show host Brooke Burke arrange items, including fruit and a clock, in a certain way. Burke was able to place fruits in the position of her choice and move the individual hands of the small clock to her liking. After she placed the items, Vitaly revealed an oil painting that matched the items exactly.
“It does combine engineering or science with art, because you have the inventive stage where you have to invent a certain something that will do some, some of the magic, you know, behind the scenes,” he said.
Beckman received the coveted ‘Fool Us’ trophy for a third time. He is yet to perform a trick on the show which Penn & Teller can figure out.
“It’s opened a lot of doors,” said Beckman, who is now touring and has performed all over the world.
The local magician has also been invited to perform at Penn & Teller’s show in Las Vegas on April 26.
