Man in his 30s dies in Port Moody rec centre parking lot: police

Police and the coroner are investigating after a man died in the parking lot of a Metro Vancouver recreation centre early Sunday morning.

In a brief statement, the Port Moody Police Department said paramedics requested their presence at the Port Moody Recreation Complex around 5:45 a.m. “for a report of a person in medical distress.”

Despite life-saving efforts from firefighters and paramedics, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. What caused his death has not been disclosed.

The department said the man has not yet been identified, but he is believed to be in his late 30s.

Police and the B.C. Coroners Service are investigating the matter and the man’s death is not considered suspicious.
