Woman arrested after pointing replica gun at Metro Vancouver bus driver

Published:

A woman was arrested after boarding a bus and pointing what turned out to be a replica firearm at a bus driver in White Rock, according to authorities.

Metro Vancouver Transit Police said this incident, which happened on Saturday afternoon, was one of two over the weekend in which a driver faced the threat of violence on the job.

On Sunday evening, a man in New Westminster got on and off of three different buses in rapid succession and “threatened the bus operators as he tried to assault them,” a statement from MVTP said.

That suspect was also arrested.

“Reducing frontline workplace assaults is a transit police operational priority,” said spokesperson Sgt. Dustin Szakacs

“Transit employees work hard to keep the transit system moving. When their safety is threatened, transit police take it seriously, investigate fully, and will always strive to make sure that the individual involved is held accountable to the full extent possible.”

Both people who were arrested were known to police, MVTP said, adding that one has been released with conditions and one remains in custody.
