An allegedly impaired driver who crashed into a hydro pole and fled the scene was arrested in Abbotsford Saturday night, according to police.
The Abbotsford Police Department said the incident at the intersection of South Fraser Way and Hill Tout Street was one of “several” crashes involving impaired drivers.
In this instance, police said they located the fleeing driver and obtained a breath sample showing an alcohol level 2.5 times the legal limit. Power in the area was knocked out for hours.
“Fortunately, no one was injured in this collision,” a social media post from the department said. “This driver faces several criminal charges.”
The driver was one of 14 people arrested Saturday night for suspected impaired riving, police noted saying “enforcement of impaired driving will continue to be a priority.”
