The B.C. SPCA is seeking a new home for a former emotional support pig named Truffles, who needs some help getting back in shape.
At approximately 302 pounds, the pot-bellied pig is considered overweight, according to the animal welfare charity.
That means whoever decides to adopt Truffles must commit to figuring out a healthy diet the porcine pet finds palatable – and that could take some effort.
“Truffles has a history of not eating his veggies, but is starting to find certain healthy foods that he likes,” reads his adoption page on the SPCA website.
“It’ll take some trial and error to find out his ideal cuisine, but we’re sure he enjoys learning about new types of food in the meantime!”
It’s unclear how the farm animal came into the SPCA’s care. CTV News has reached out to the charity for more information.
Truffles is said to enjoy relaxing, napping and snacking. Given his previous role as an emotional support animal, the 10-year-old pig also has “lots of kindness and love to share,” according to his adoption page.
“Once he gets used to his new home and family, we’re sure that he’ll be a sweet and loving friend,” the SPCA added.
Anyone interested in adopting Truffles from the SPCA’s Surrey location can fill out an application online. The normal adoption fee for pigs, sheep and goats is $150.
