Ferry service resumes on Bowen Island after berth repaired

Crews have completed repairs on the Bowen Island dock that was damaged by waves this week, allowing regular ferry service to resume.

BC Ferries said dock trials were completed at the Snug Cove berth on Thursday, paving the way for a 6:30 p.m. departure.

“Thank you to our customers for your patience as we completed these necessary repairs,” the company said in a service notice.

All schedule sailings were cancelled for Tuesday, Wednesday and most of Thursday after the dock sustained significant damage during a storm.

Several water taxis were sourced to help move people on and off the island in the meantime.

BC Ferries noted the issue was not related to the collision involving the Queen of Capilano last weekend, which damaged a different, private dock and at least one moored boat.
