Fentanyl, cocaine, meth found in stolen car: Surrey police

A backpack containing nearly a pound of illicit drugs was seized in Surrey Saturday, after police stopped two people allegedly trying to drive off in a stolen car.

The Surrey Police Service said an off-duty officer recognized the car as one that had been reported stolen when he saw it parked in a driveway on his way home from working the night shift around 6 a.m.

“Officers were able to arrest two people as they got into the vehicle and tried to drive away,” a news release from the department said, adding that police dogs were also used in the arrest.

“During a search of the stolen vehicle, officers located and seized a backpack containing approximately 255 grams of suspected cocaine in both powder and rock forms, approximately 24 grams of suspected fentanyl, and approximately 24 grams of suspected methamphetamine.”

The two people have not been named because they have not been charged, and they were released from custody with a promise to appear in court.
