Criminal investigation team probing deadly crash in Burnaby, B.C.

Mounties are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a pedestrian was struck and killed Monday evening in Burnaby, B.C.

Officers were called to the collision near the intersection of Kingsway and Edmonds Street just after 7 p.m.

Investigators say the vehicle was travelling east on Kingsway when it struck the pedestrian.

“The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and has co-operated with the investigation,” the Burnaby RCMP said in a news release Wednesday.

The detachment’s criminal collision investigation team has assumed conduct of the investigation and is seeking dash-camera video as well as witness statements.

“Part of our investigation includes what occurred in the moments before the collision,” Cpl. Mike Kalanj said in a statement.

“If you were in the area between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., our investigators would like to speak to you.”

Police did not provide any identifying details about the pedestrian or the vehicle involved.
