B.C.’s anti-gang police agency is touting the results of recent “proactive enforcement” efforts around the Lower Mainland.
The Uniform Gang Enforcement Team, which is part of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C., conducted the seizures from March 18 through 24, the CFSEU-BC said in a news release Friday.
The “strategic enforcement” occurred in Surrey, New Westminster, Langley, Chilliwack, Maple Ridge and North Vancouver, police said.
Officers seized the following items under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:
- A shotgun, a semi-automatic pistol and a replica firearm
- More than $33,000 in cash
- A Tesla Model 3
- 147 grams of suspected fentanyl
- 107 grams of suspected cocaine
- Various amounts of additional suspected drugs, including methamphetamine, crystal methamphetamine, “illicit cannabis,” psilocybin, ketamine and prescription medication
- A smoke grenade
- Five knives
- Two cans of bear spray
- Two digital scales
- And “multiple cellphones”
The CFSEU-BC did not mention any arrests or charges related to the seizures in its release.
“Seizing illegal drugs, cash and firearms disrupts criminal enterprises and diminishes the ability of organized crime to harm communities,” said Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha, in the release.
“By removing these dangerous elements from the streets, CFSEU officers not only protect the public’s safety but also restore a sense of security, ensuring that communities can thrive without the threat of violence or drug-related harm.”
