1 injured in daylight Downtown Eastside shooting

Police were called to the scene of a shooting near Main and East Hastings streets on Jan. 30, 2025.

One person was shot on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside Thursday morning and the suspect remains at large, according to authorities.

The Vancouver Police Department, in a social media post, said the shooting took place near Main and East Hastings streets around 11 a.m.

The victim has been taken to hospital and the shooting is believed to be “targeted,” the post on X said, adding that no arrests have been made.

More information is “expected to be shared” later in the day, the post said.
