Chilly temperatures, light snow expected this week for Toronto area

More snowfall is expected in the Toronto area Tuesday to kick off a week of wintery weather and chilly temperatures.

Environment Canada says the first bout of snow will take place on Tuesday with two to four centimeters expected. While there was no snow on Monday, temperatures fell into the negative double digits in the morning.

“Today is bringing us some of the coldest temperatures we’ve seen since last winter,” CTV News Toronto’s weather anchor Lyndsay Morrison said.

“We started off the day today at -12.7 degrees in Toronto, but it felt like -20. The temperature was closer to -25 degrees this morning in places like Peterborough and Muskoka.”

On Tuesday, temperatures are expected to fall to -14 C with the wind chill in the morning and rise to -7 C in the afternoon, the weather agency stated.

On Wednesday, the agency said the southern parts of the province can expect a mix of rain and snow as temperatures turn to highs of 4 C and lows of -7 C.

For the rest of the week, the province will see temperatures remain below 0 C with high chances of flurries throughout.
