Woman faces charges after alleged taxi robbery in Saskatoon

A 30-year-old woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting a taxi driver and attempting to steal his vehicle in Saskatoon.

Saskatoon police say officers responded to a robbery in progress around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday in a motel parking lot on the 100 block of Circle Drive West.

According to police, it was reported that a female passenger was seen physically assaulting a 75-year-old taxi driver before entering the driver’s seat and striking him while trying to flee the scene.

Both the suspect and the victim left the scene before police arrived.

The victim later returned and was found not to have suffered serious injuries.

A woman matching the suspect’s description was located in the 2000 block of Avenue B North and taken into custody.

She was charged with robbery, assault with a weapon, dangerous driving, obstruction and breaching court-imposed conditions.
