U of S Huskies named Canada West Players of Week

Two University of Saskatchewan Huskies student-athletes have been named Canada West BioSteel Players of the Week for recent success in their respective sports.

Cheyenne Lehmann was named the women’s soccer player of the week following a pair of weekend wins.

The fourth-year forward scored two goals Saturday in a 2–0 Huskies win over MacEwan. She followed that up with a goal Sunday in a 2–1 win against Alberta.

Lehmann’s four goals on the season lead the Huskies. Her six points are tied for second on the team.

The Huskies women’s soccer team is on the road for two games this weekend. They visit the Calgary Dinos Saturday at noon, and take on the Mount Royal Cougars Sunday at 1 p.m.

For the second time this season, Lukas Scott has been named football special teams player of the week.

The second-year kicker recorded nine points in a 45–22 win over the Calgary Dinos, going six-for-six on extra points and making his lone field goal attempt.

He also starred when it came to field positioning, averaging 63.9 yards on six kickoffs and 40.3 yards on six punts.

Scott was also recognized by Canada West in Week 2, when he made four of five field goals in a Huskies 51–14 win over the UBC Thunderbirds.

The Huskies host the University of Alberta Golden Bears in football action Friday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Griffiths Stadium.
