Lloydminster man faces multiple charges for making, possessing child sexual abuse content

A 21-year-old Lloydminster man is facing multiple charges following an investigation by the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit.

On Nov. 4 the ICE unit executed a search warrant at a home in Lloydminster where police say electronic devices were examined and seized, according to a news release from the Saskatoon police Thursday.

As a result, officers charged Matthew Aldon Blyth of Lloydminster with one count of making child sexual abuse and exploitation material, one count of accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material, two counts of making child sexual abuse and exploitation material available to others, and three counts of possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

These charges reflect recent changes to the Criminal Code terminology which replaced references to “child pornography” with “child sexual abuse and exploitation material” as of Oct. 10.

Police say Blyth was released on court-imposed condition and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 17.
