Swift Current eliminated by Tigers in first round of WHL playoffs

The Swift Current Broncos have been eliminated from the Western Hockey League’s playoffs in the first round by the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Swift Current was in a do-or-die situation down 3-1 in the series heading into Friday night’s game five in Medicine Hat.

The Broncos battled back to provide plenty of nervy moments for Medicine Hat fans packed into Co-op Place, but the Tigers ultimately prevailed to march on to Round Two.

Medicine Hat star Gavin McKenna had a stellar first round.

The projected 2026 first overall pick totaled to 16 points (2G-14A) in just five games against the Broncos.

The Tigers will face the winner of the Prince Albert/Edmonton series in Round Two.

The Raiders were able to force a Game 6 with a 4-2 win last night at home.

Puck drop in that one goes Sunday at 4 p.m. SK time in Edmonton.
