Severe thunderstorm warning for parts of western Sask. lifted

A severe thunderstorm warning for parts of western Saskatchewan has been lifted.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued the alert around 5:47 p.m. for the R.M. of Snipe Lake, including Eston and Plato, as well as the R.M of Newcombe.

The alert was lifted as of 6:20 p.m.

Around 5:45 p.m., meteorologists were tracking the thunderstorm about five kilometres west of Eston and moving toward the east at 30 km/h.

According to ECCC, the thunderstorm had the potential to produce quarter-sized hail and wind gusts in excess of 90 km/h.

ECCC advised people to go indoors if they heard thunder.
